The Clore Garden of Science is an interactive, outdoor science museum located in the heart of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel.Run by the Davidson Institute of Science Education, the museum challenges visitors to reconsider their ingrained perceptions and to enhance their understanding of the world around them through enjoyable, hands-on activities for all ages.
Its 10,000 square meters of green lawns are home to nearly 80 hands-on exhibits, large and small. The carefully built displays demonstrate the laws of physics, solar energy, water power and other natural phenomena that we take for granted every day. Natural elements such as sunlight, wind and water play an important role in many of the Garden's displays. These "hands on", interactive exhibits come to life only at the encounter with a curious visitor who twists, pushes, bounces and pieces them together.
Since its establishment over a decade ago the Clore Garden of Science has enriched hundreds of thousands of visitors, instilling in them a love of science and inquiry and an awareness of environmental responsibility. Over 60,000 visitors annually - school children, families and tourists enjoy the scientific experience of the Clore Garden of Science.
One of the museum's most interesting sites is the EcoSphere, an ecological-educational facility designed as geodesic dome demonstrating the various principles of ecology and facilitating the study of the environment. The temperature and the humidity are controlled to produce a microclimate and to provide optimal conditions for a variety of life forms that are amenable to the demonstration of biological processes.
